Tips to prevent Bicycle crime:

  • Secure your bicycle with a good quality lock. Using 2 locks can be a good idea to slow thieves down and makes your bicycle less of a target. At least one of them should be a D-lock. Thieves are less likely to carry multiple tools, so use two different locks if possible.
  • If possible secure your bicycle as close to a stand as possible to give any thieves little or no room to manoeuvre.
  • Consider registering the bicycle on the National bike registration database https://www.bikeregister.com
  • Get your bicycle security marked. It's a highly visible deterrent to bicycle thieves. They know that if they are caught with a registered bicycle, the owner can be traced and they will be arrested. Security marking products can be found at Secured by Design https://www.securedbydesign.com/member-companies/product-category-search
